Dragon launches forth yet another 1/72 panzer in tremendous “Neo” collection. This time it’s a German Panzer III Ausf.L Late-Production. The Panzer III Ausf.L featured a longer and more powerful 5cm KwK.39 L/60 main gun, as well as thicker armor with an additional 20mm-deep layer on the turret and hull front. A total of 653 Ausf.L tanks were produced by German factories from June-December 1942. One user of the variant was the heavy tank battalion s.Pz.Abt.502, the very first unit to receive the Tiger I. The unit’s first taste of combat was in the Leningrad region from August 1942 onwards. This kit represents such a Panzer III L in that timeframe.
Dragon’s Neo kit shows a Panzer III L resplendent in superb levels of 1/72 scale detail.
